Areas of Practice
Environmental Law
Our attorneys have great experience in dealing with environmental issues associated with a wide variety of industries, including energy (generation, transmission and distribution), oil and gas, mining, chemical, steel, transportation (road, railroad, pipelines, ports and terminals), telecommunications, real estate, water resources and waste management, agribusiness, pulp mills and forestry.
On the consulting side, we assist our clients in environmental permitting proceedings and analysis of environmental studies (e.g. EIS), negotiations with stakeholders (e.g. public authorities and NGOs), environmental auditing and due diligence, and assessment of potential environmental liability. We also represent parties in corporate mergers and acquisitions, financing, acquisition, sale, and leasing of assets, in addition to assisting our clients in connection with projects aiming at generation and/or trading of greenhouse gases certified emissions reductions (“Carbon Credits”).
For those situations in which litigation becomes necessary, our attorneys are highly prepared to challenge governmental enforcement actions and statutory-based lawsuits, defend against environmental tort suits, contractual claims and administrative proceedings, as well as to and to act in mediation and arbitration proceedings.
